Over the weekend, our Sponsored rider Billy Twomey was crowned HOYS Leading Showjumper of the Year. His form throughout the week had already seen him win the five fence challenge on Diaghilev and take the Naylors Equestrian accumulator with Tin Tin. So when it came to the Grand Prix on Sunday night Billy was favourite to win the title.
Of the 12 riders who managed to qualify for the technical jump-off, Billy was the only rider to go clear. However, the boldest challenge came from last year’s victors Julien Epaillard and Cristallo ALM, who put in the fastest time of the class but at the expense of a rail.
This is the second time in 3 years that Billy has won the Grand Prix with his previous win being in 2013 on Tinka’s Serenade. He also won in 2008 with the stallion Je T’aime Flamenco.
Once the class and the celebrating had finished, Billy found time to send us a quick message on facebook; “Thanks to the team at Equiform Nutrition Ltd my horses have been in top condition this week”.
