Scarlett Ward

Coming from a family background of racehorse trainers and Olympic show jumpers, horses are in Scarlett’s blood. Her grandmother is still the youngest winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the Royal International Horse Show, winning it in 1950 aged 17.

Scarlett started riding in the Holderness Hunt Pony Club before representing England on pony teams and jumping many junior championships at HOYS and Hickstead.

After taking a break from riding to complete A Levels she returned to show jumping and was crowned National Team Champion at the Scope Festival aboard Port Royal in 2010 along with 3 other team mates.
Having known her future was in showjumping Scarlett went to work full time in Elmshorn, Germany for British Showjumper Christopher Frazer.

On returning to England she had success at the British Young Horse Championships taking a 1st and 5th place and was selected to compete at the World Championships for Young Horses at Zangersheide in Lanaken, Belgium with Bustino.
Scarlett was then given the chance to be based with Ben Maher at his home near Stansted, along with two of her own horses. Under Ben’s tutelage Scarlett stepped up to Grand Prix and International level with great success. Placing in all of the World Class Under 23 Championship Qualifiers entered, her horse Milena 8 and herself topped the national points league qualifying for the final at Olympia where they finished an eventual second place. This has been her best result to date and a big moment in her career.

After such a fantastic finish to the year Scarlett was subsequently offered the opportunity to work as stable jockey to the Late Tim Stockdale and worked there in 2014 and 2015. Her horses Milena and Bustino produced some fanatic results and got the opportunity to compete internationally at places such as Oliva Nova, Chantilly, Cagnes-sur-Mer and Keysoe. Scarlett also competed many horses for Tim and other owners with great results including two wins at Keysoe CSI2* in 2015.
